A 40 minute camel ride takes you across Ras Al Khaimah’s desert dunes, following tracks that early desert communities once used to move across the sand. It is a slower-paced alternative to the region’s faster desert activities, suited to travellers who want time to take in the scenery.
A roundtrip hotel transfer brings you to the desert site, with the full evening scheduled from around 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm depending on your pickup location. On arrival, a guide gives you a short safety briefing before helping you mount your camel for the ride.
The 40 minute ride moves at a steady pace across the dunes, giving you time to look out over the open desert from camel height rather than rushing through it. Your guide points out details of the desert’s native flora and fauna along the way, and shares background on how camels have long served as transport and companions for desert communities in this part of the UAE. Riding at camel height offers a different vantage point than the area’s faster activities, closer to how desert travellers once experienced the same landscape.
Guests who add the dinner option end the ride with an open BBQ buffet dinner and a run of traditional performances, including belly dancing, a Tanura show, a fire performance, and a sparkle display, set up in the open desert once the ride is done. Water and soft drinks are provided throughout the evening to keep you refreshed.
Rayna’s own team manages your pickup, the ride, and the drop-off, so you have a direct point of contact before, during, and after the evening.
